Allen discusses recommendation for post-2014 troop size

Retired Marine Gen. John Allen, the former top commander in Afghanistan, said recently that the U.S. could accomplish its post-2014 mission in Afghanistan with fewer troops than the 13,600 he initially recommended, although more assistance from allies would be needed. "I believe there was a number less than [13,600] that could still accomplish the mission with acceptable risk," Allen said.
