Amazon Web Services touts cloud security protection

Amazon Web Services says its Virtual Private Cloud service will protect customers against denial-of-service risks with intrusion protection and deeper encryption capabilities. "Obviously individual companies can't afford to have the kind of connectivity to the Internet that we can. Furthermore, they don't necessarily have the network expertise to mitigate large-scale attacks, whereas we do," said Stephen Schmidt, AWS' chief information security officer.
