Campaign finance "Follow the Money" bill draws fire

The same disclosures now required for federal candidate ads would also be mandatory for independent expenditures under a campaign finance bill introduced in the Senate. However, the Follow the Money Act of 2013 is drawing fire as a potential deterrent to free speech. "This complicated regulatory disclosure system will not be a tool for transparency and would actually discourage political participation," said National Association of Manufacturers President Jay Timmons.
