Comet ISON is on the way and might put on a spectacular light show as it passes within 700,000 miles of the sun. The comet's close pass could illuminate it so much that it is easily visible during daylight. The sun's power also could shatter the comet into brilliant fragments or evaporate it into oblivion. NASA's Hubble Space Telescope has snapped the first photos of the comet.
