The refusal by Rep. Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, to allow Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Richard Cordray to testify before his House Financial Services Committee is an effort to "exert oversight by insisting that the bureau respect the courts," writes Mary Kissel. The CFPB is a powerful agency, and with Democrats controlling the Senate and White House, there is little else Hensarling can do to check its power, she writes.
