Smart card technology, such as a tool being developed by the International Atomic Energy Agency known as SmartCard/SmartRadTrack, could be useful in monitoring patients' radiation dose exposure from medical imaging, according to a report published in the American Journal of Roentgenology. "The system provides the requested radiation history report, which then can be printed or sent by e-mail to the patient," wrote Madan Rehani of the IAEA and Joseph Kushi of the software company Aware.
