Family Dollar cuts site-evaluation time by two-thirds

Discount grocer Family Dollar says it has improved site selection by implementing a real estate enterprise market knowledge system. The field-based system, TAS Unity, improves on the company's desktop-based model and allows for better coordination. "There were many holes in our existing system," said Brian Strickland, divisional vice president of portfolio management. "For example, a real estate manager working on a store relocation did not have visibility to a real estate manager who may be siting a new store in the same area."
