Feds file bill of information alleging La. bid-rigging conspiracy

A former Louisiana contractor who won more than $1 million in business from the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office has been charged with conspiracy by federal prosecutors. The contractor is accused of creating multiple companies to fabricate competitive bids for the jobs he sought, then kicking back cash and gifts to the sheriff's purchasing director, prosecutors said. The purchasing director and another employee of the sheriff's office have entered guilty pleas to conspiracy charges.
