Forthcoming oral cancer test will offer fast results

Vigilant Biosciences is expected to launch a new oral cancer test as soon as 2014. The test, developed at the University of Miami, consists of an oral rinse that captures squamous cell carcinoma biomarkers in the saliva and a test strip that detects the biomarkers within a few minutes. The test can detect oral cancer before signs are visible, says researcher Elizabeth Franzmann.
