Guidelines aim to decrease use of touch screens in vehicles

The federal government has presented voluntary guidelines for automakers to take steps to decrease drivers' use of touch-screen entertainment and navigation systems in vehicles. The guidelines "will help us put an end to the dangerous practice of distracted driving by limiting the amount of time drivers take their eyes off the road," said David Strickland, head of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
