Heart association predicts spike in heart failure rates in U.S.

The American Heart Association issued a policy statement that predicted a 46% increase in the number of people with heart failure, from 5 million in 2012 to 8 million in 2030. Direct and indirect costs related to the condition could increase more than twofold to $70 billion. The statement was published in the journal Circulation: Heart Failure.
