Lawmaker: CPSC's phthalates review has transparency issues

The Consumer Product Safety Commission's decision to independently review the safety of phthalates and disallow any outside review of its findings shows a lack of transparency, writes Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill. The commission "is ignoring the independent scientific community and marching ahead with new rules without review or comment by those who will be affected by it," he writes. "[W]e must ensure reviews that could impact huge sectors of our economy are done in an open and transparent manner," Kinzinger added.
