Ligament transplant is pioneering step for Cayman Islands

A knee ligament transplant is the first in the Cayman Islands following a change in laws that paves the way for the islands to be integrated into international donor registries. Some corneal transplants have been performed in the past on the islands, but the lack of a legal framework prevented greater use of transplant procedures. A transplant network is still to be established on the island, and the ligament for the procedure was flown in.
