Most students in Scotland meet, exceed literacy standards

In Scotland, more than 90% of students are meeting or exceeding standards in reading and writing, but student performance declines between the end of primary school and the start of secondary school, according to the Scottish Survey of Literacy and Numeracy released this week. While officials said they were pleased with the results of the survey, critics noted there is still need for improvement.
