New nanofiber may be tough alternative to many materials

A new nanofiber, a synthetic polymer similar to acrylic, could lead to lighter, stronger body armor and aircraft, among other things. Yuris Dzenis, an engineering professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, says the fiber can be made at any length.
