New platform allows providers to seek immediate medical device support

A mobile physician support tool was introduced last week by startup Nurep that helps providers with surgical scheduling by allowing them to conduct secure video consultations with medical device company representatives through their iPads. Nurep co-founder Paul Schultz said customer service and support reps are often in the operating room with surgeons to answer device questions, and surgeries often have to be scheduled around the reps' availability. "We bring a live, remote medical device rep into the operating room. It seamlessly integrates into the physician's workflow," he said.
