Twenty percent of U.S. hospitals and health care providers have not started training for the shift to ICD-10, while about half are not following the federal timeline for making the transition, according to a Health Revenue Assurance Holdings survey. Researchers also noted 31% do not intend to dual code ahead of the deadline, which is Oct. 1, 2014.
