Rebtel is releasing an application programming interface for integrating Voice-over-Internet-Protocol voice communications within apps, with no charge to developers. Use of the API is likely to take even more voice business away from mobile carriers, as Rebtel-enabled apps would use cheaper data networks within mobile plans, Ingrid Lunden writes. The Swedish company said it expects to have as many as 15 million users by year's end.
