Rep. McCaul writing own cybersecurity bill with DHS focus

House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul, R-Texas, says he is putting together a cybersecurity bill that addresses the role the Department of Homeland Security would have in providing cyberthreat information to private companies. Privacy groups criticized the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act, but McCaul says his amendment to that bill received their praise. "While privacy groups viewed McCaul's amendment as a positive step, they said it did not go far enough to quell their concerns about CISPA's impact on the public's civil liberties," Jennifer Martinez writes.
