Why global not-for-profits spend so much on accounting

Global non-governmental organizations spend 80% more on accounting and finance operations and staff than comparable multinationals. One reason for that disparity might be because funding for global non-governmental organizations usually is aimed at specific programs and not general operations. Thus, these entities struggle to establish more efficient, integrated operations.
