AAHPM, ASCO partnership seeks to broaden use of palliative care

The three-year partnership recently formed between the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and the American Society of Clinical Oncology seeks to use technology to increase palliative care in oncology and to provide oncologists with evidence-based interventions. AAHPM past president Dr. Timothy Quill said the venture will provide a broader view of how palliative and hospice training can be used and will look at how to make the services more available. "Palliative care is a piece of good care for sick people, and reserving it for the end of life is crazy," Quill said.
