"The Bow," a skyscraper in Calgary, Alberta, has been recognized for its "innovative design, visual impact and function of significant corporate architecture." A jury of building experts selected by Emporis chose it as being among the most spectacular buildings in the world. Designed by Foster+Partners, the 59-story, steel-framed structure is shaped like a crescent to minimize wind effects. The building is 30% lighter than structures of comparable size because of its steel-frame and glass engineering, Emporis said.
