China's lawmakers look to toughen fraud penalties

Some lawmakers in China support stiffer penalties including higher fines for commercial fraud such as false advertisement and the production and sale of shoddy goods. The proposals came as lawmakers debated changes this week that would also bring more consumer protections to online sales and introduce criminal penalties for entities whose products damaged consumers' health or led to any deaths.
