Cleanup from Sandy in NYC raises some concerns on cost

Because New York City had its debris from Hurricane Sandy removed by the Army Corps of Engineers, it cost about $100 per cubic yard, more than twice the $46 per cubic yard that is the average cost of similar work elsewhere in the U.S. Federal officials said the higher cost was justified by the complexity of moving fast to remove nearly 1 million cubic yards of debris in a large urban area.
