FINRA withdraws requirement for "BrokerCheck" link on Web postings

Responding to criticism from the Financial Services Institute, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority has withdrawn a proposal that would have required financial advisers, brokers and financial firms to include a link to "BrokerCheck" when they post information to social media sites and their websites. "There is simply no way in many cases for a link to BrokerCheck to be prominently displayed on social media sites and, therefore, the rule is impossible to implement," said FSI EVP & General Counsel David Bellaire. FSI said it would continue to work with FINRA on other possible solutions.
