Harvard's primate research center will shut down

Harvard Medical School will shut down its New England Primate Research Center after cuts in research grants and concerns about the treatment of animals at the center. The center had done groundbreaking work in AIDS and Parkinson's disease in its nearly 50 years. The Southborough, Mass., facility will wind down operations in the next couple of years.
