Senate set to vote on online sales tax bill May 6

The Senate voted 63-30 on Thursday to end debate on the Marketplace Fairness Act and to vote on the bill May 6, after Senators return from a week of vacation. If the Senate approves the measure, which would allow states to require online retailers to collect sales tax on purchases by in-state buyers, it may face a tougher battle in the House where some see the measure as a tax increase.
