Software glitch shuts down CBOE trading for more than 3 hours

Institutional investors were unable to trade key options contracts used to hedge volatility and broad stock market exposure when a technical problem shut down trading on the Chicago Board Options Exchange for more than three hours Thursday. The CBOE said the outage was caused by a software glitch and "not the result of any outside influence."
