Study explores use of place-based math in rural schools

Place-based math lessons connect concepts to the geographic region in which students live. It's a practice many rural schools have adopted, education reporter Diette Courrégé Casey writes in this blog post. In a recent survey of 15 rural math educators, some said they were unclear about how to apply the theory in the classroom, noting also that it was difficult to use when teaching advanced math courses.
