Study: Offshore wind-transmission project would be good for N.J.

A proposed $5 billion offshore wind-transmission project off the coast of New Jersey would bring up to 600 manufacturing jobs in the South Jersey area and turn the Port of Paulsboro into a hub for the emerging offshore wind industry, according to a study commissioned by project developer Atlantic Wind Connection. AWC hopes to gain approval from the PJM Interconnection in the fall. AWC is hoping to begin construction of the project's initial phase in 2016 and have it up and running in 2019.
