Most Americans polled by said they are aware that damage from flooding is typically excluded in homeowners insurance, but many have not bought flood coverage. "This is a classic 'do as I say, not as I do' situation. The vast majority of Americans know the key facts about flood insurance, but they haven't taken the necessary steps to protect their homes," said's Doug Whiteman.
