Syria likely used chemical weapons, Hagel says

The intelligence community believes with "varying degrees of confidence" that Syria's government used sarin gas against civilians and rebels, says Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel. The White House is in the process of passing that information along to Congress, Hagel said. The president had formerly declared that the use of chemical weapons would constitute a "red line" that could trigger a U.S. intervention in the region.
