U.K. city council leader battles to preserve budget

Birmingham, U.K., City Council Leader Albert Bore is gearing up for a citywide consultation on a budget dilemma, which stems from the federal government's £5 billion cut to council budgets and could leave the city without services such as child and adult care. "Budgets have been pared back," Bore said. "We will have to cease doing certain things. I'm not specifying yet what those will be because I want the public of Birmingham to come to an understanding on what services the City Council should provide and at what level."
