Wash. science teacher honored at White House as nation's top educator

National Board Certified Teacher Jeffrey Charbonneau was honored Tuesday in a White House ceremony with the 63rd National Teacher of the Year award. Charbonneau, a veteran science teacher who launched a robot challenge for students, also is credited for seeking grant money to provide classroom technology when his school faced a budget shortage. His optimism also shines through in the classroom as he tells students, "Welcome back to another day in paradise," -- a place that "removes the words 'can't,' 'too hard,' and 'impossible'" from their vocabulary.
