A good way to get your foot in the door and land a permanent gig is to become an intern at the company where you want to work, write Jeanine "J.T." Tanner O'Donnell and Dale Dauten. If that does not work, you can offer to volunteer. You will not be paid, but "you'll make yourself an insider, and that could make all the difference," Dauten writes.
