Report: CableLabs exploring data-over-coax "relook"

CableLabs is exploring how to create a new data-over-coax platform that would allow cable providers to offer downstream broadband speeds of five gigabits per second or faster, according to this report. "It's almost a complete relook at how you do data over coax," said one source. "If you were to convert all the spectrum in a typical cable system to data you could easily get 5 gigabits per second."
