ICU patients have quality of life issues post-discharge

Almost half of patients admitted to surgical ICUs report ongoing quality of life problems with mobility, self care, pain and cognition, for six to 11 years after discharge, according to a study in the Archives of Surgery. The Dutch researchers said more study is needed to improve functionality and quality of life for ICU survivors.
