"Big Brain Theory" will highlight mechanical, team skills

"The Big Brain Theory" on Discovery brings together tech workers and grad students to solve engineering problems set by the show. One task: devise a way to stop an explosion when two trucks packed with explosives collide. The competition is supposed to reveal great tech innovators, but in practice contestants' practical mechanical and teamwork skills win out, writes Tom Conroy. Still, some viewers might be turned onto engineering.
