Feature could turn Twitter into a local discovery engine

Twitter is testing a location-based discovery engine that would allow users to quickly find tweets posted by people within a certain distance of their physical location. A localized version of Twitter could handily best Foursquare, Mike Isaac writes. "Twitter could be infinitely more useful to me were I to open up the app and see something happening down the block: A yard sale, a car accident, half-off a tasty fried chicken sandwich," Isaac writes.
