Wash. state NBCT is honored for mentoring fellow educators

Jeanne Kertes-Smith, who in 1993 became the first teacher to be National Board Certified in Washington state's Central Kitsap district, was recently honored by the school board upon her recertification. During her career, she also helped to mentor other teachers seeking National Board Certification and is credited with helping to turn around student achievement in science.
