Decline seen in RTs taking certification exams

The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists has reported there was a decline in 2009 in the number of people taking radiologic technologist certification tests in nuclear medicine, radiography and radiation therapy. The ARRT said nuclear medicine showed the biggest decline, about 20%, compared with 2008. The decrease is "reflective of the decreased number of graduates from educational programs which, in turn, is reflective of supply and demand within the profession," said Jerry Reid, ARRT executive director.
