Regulatory revamp will affect individual investors, consumers

Lawmakers are continuing their debates over legislation to overhaul financial regulations. The bill will affect Wall Street firms as well as individual investors and consumers. For example, the Federal Deposit Insurance Fund could be granted more authority through the reform effort. Scott Talbott, senior vice president of government affairs at The Financial Services Roundtable, said that could translate into better protection for bank depositors.
