Verizon, Comcast vie for VOD supremacy

Verizon Communications says subscribers throughout its FiOS TV footprint now have access to 24,000 monthly titles from its video-on-demand library, more than half of which are available for free. The company's library -- which includes 3D content from Starz Entertainment and HBO -- falls 1,000 titles short of Comcast, although the cable firm's full library reaches just 80% of its subscriber base.
