By design, Samsung Electronics is employing its eight-core Exynos 5 Octa processor in Galaxy S4 smartphones bound for European and Latin American markets, while U.S. buyers of the S4 will get models with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, Don Clark writes in this analysis. The Qualcomm chip was selected because U.S. consumers are expecting Long-Term Evolution capability in new smartphones, he notes.
