HTC will pay Microsoft for Android releases

Microsoft made peace with HTC on its Android-based smartphones as the software maker asserted Tuesday that the operating system steps on its patents. HTC signed a licensing deal with Microsoft that provides Microsoft with royalties from the cell phone maker's Android deployments. Coincidentally or not, HTC announced today that it would produce a Windows Phone 7 handset this year, according to a Reuters report.
