National Pet Week fosters responsible pet ownership

National Pet Week -- launched three decades ago by AVMA and the Auxiliary to the AVMA -- is a time to honor the human-animal bond, promote responsible pet ownership and raise public consciousness about veterinary medicine, notes Claire Holley, the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association's executive director. National Pet Week will be celebrated from May 1 through May 7 this year.
