Is the common core tough enough for students who are gifted?

Wake County, N.C., officials -- bracing for more challenging courses under the Common Core State Standards -- have restricted the use of single-subject acceleration, in which students who are academically gifted are placed in a class that is a grade-level higher. However, the move has drawn criticism from some parents who say their children are not challenged by the math curriculum.
