NBCT: How educators can support diversity among students' families

In response to a question posed on teacher Larry Ferlazzo's blog, National Board Certified Teacher Cindi Rigsbee is one of several people who suggest ways schools can reach out to diverse families. Rigsbee writes that her school holds "Cultural Explosion" nights, and technology delivers e-mail and voice mail in parents' first languages. "What I can do is offer information, within the context of my own curriculum, on many different religions or on what a particular political group stands for ... without expressing personal opinions," she writes.
