Professor: Teacher training needed for new science standards in Mich.

Suzanne Wilson, chairwoman of the Department of Teacher Education at Michigan State University, says that greater professional development is needed before teachers are prepared to implement new science standards, known as the "Next Generation Science Standards." "Teachers have a lot to do, and they can't be scurrying around trying to patch together some incoherent set of curricular materials to meet these standards, or write their own materials," Wilson said.
