Research looks at outcomes in young patients with ovarian cysts

Canadian researchers looked at 66 children and teens who underwent dermoid cystectomy and found that 11% of them had a recurrence of ovarian dermoid cysts. The authors noted that follow-up in such cases is inconsistent, and they recommend a single appointment and an ultrasound one year after surgery. The study was presented at the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology meeting.
